Douglas “Doug” O. Anderson, 70 of Sioux City, Iowa died on Thursday, June 2, 2022, in Sioux City, Iowa.
A Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Monday, June 6th at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel located at 1801 Morningside Ave. Sioux City, Iowa 51106 with Chaplain Richard Cogan od St. Croix Hospice and Pastor Barbara Bruneau officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City, IA.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM on Monday, June 6, 2022, at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, 1801 Morningside Ave., Sioux City, Iowa.

Doug was born May 20, 1952, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Ormond G. and Jean E. (Carlson) Anderson. The family moved several times while Doug was growing up for his father’s work. They lived in Bassett, NE, Ortonville, MN, Beaver Creek, MN and Atlantic, IA before returning to Sioux City. Doug graduated from East High School in 1970. On August 7, 1976, he married Diane Bauer in Sioux City. Doug later continued his education at Morningside College graduating during the winter ceremonies in 1987. His work career spanned several different jobs, from bookkeeping to driving for wheelchair transportation to transporting railroad crews. Health issues caused him to retire in 2014.
Doug’s hobbies included playing cards, especially cribbage, watching football, baseball, and NASCAR. His favorite teams were the Green Bay Packers, New York Yankees, and the Iowa Hawkeyes. His all-time favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Survivors include his wife Diane of Sioux City, son, David Anderson and his wife Amy Roberts of North Liberty, IA, grandson Rowa Anderson and a step grandson Hayden Vickroy, sister, Pastor Barbara Bruneau of La Crescent, MN. and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, two aunts, 1 uncle and 3 cousins.
In lieu of flowers family suggests memorials be directed to St. Croix Hospice.
