Ada M. Wright, 103, of Sioux City passed away Nov. 25, 2015, at Sunrise Retirement Center.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
The third daughter of William and Mary (Kelley) Heath was born the day the Titanic sank, April 15, 1912, on a farm near Dante, S.D. She attended South Dakota country school and then moved to Westfield, Iowa, where she went to school through the eighth grade.
Ada married Joseph Wright on March 7, 1938, in Onawa, Iowa. They lived on an acreage at Salix, Iowa, and moved back to Sioux City in 1966 due to Joe’s ill health. Joe preceded her in death on July 27, 1987. At age 13, she became a midwife and later worked at Sunrise Manor, Austin’s Café and Walgreen’s.
Ada and Joe were members of South Dakota Old Fiddlers and received a plaque for South Dakota Fans of the year. Ada enjoyed the Senior Citizens Center, gardening and Christy’s after care.
Survivors include caregivers, Lois Loetz and Marie Peterson; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Ray, Sherman, Harvey, Tom and Ted Heath; and sisters, infant Wanda, Viola Galer, and Hazel Wright.
