PONCA, Neb. -- Adam Crary Way, 24, of Ponca went home to be with his precious Lord on Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011, after a long illness.
Memorial services will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at Cornerstone World Outreach Center in Sioux City. The Rev. Larry Gordon will officiate. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church. Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Adam was born Dec. 1, 1986, in Sioux City, the son of Gary and Susan (Crary) Way. He was raised on a farm in Ponca and graduated from Ponca High School in 2005. He graduated from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln in 2009 with a degree in agronomy and organics. He worked as an organics research tech for the N. E. Nebraska Extension center in Concord, Neb. He had to retire due to his illness.
He was very active at Cornerstone World Outreach, where he touched many lives with his volunteer work with Club Genesis, Oneighty Youth Groups and bus ministries, as well as Shammah, for college-age people. He was very passionate about organic farming and enjoyed hunting, fishing and just being outdoors in nature.
He is survived by his parents, Gary and Susan Way of Ponca; his older sister and her husband, the Revs. Jennifer and Mac Dalton of Fairfield, Ill.; a younger brother, Jesse, of Ponca; his nephew and niece, Brinson and Annelyn Dalton; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a brother in infancy, Jonathan David; and his grandparents.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name and may be directed to the family.
