Agnes Ida Weber

Agnes Ida Weber of Sioux City transcended this earthly space Tuesday, June 17, 2014, to be home with her heavenly father and beloved husband, Ivel.
Service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Berkemier Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Merrill Muller officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service/Eastern Star service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Agnes was born on Feb. 21, 1927, in Sioux City, to Carl James Madden and Alice Myra (DeMara) Madden. She attended Hopkins Elementary, West Junior and Central High School. She earned her LPN degree from Western Iowa Tech Community College and worked for 12 years at St. Luke’s Hospital and eight years at Matney’s Westside Nursing Home.
Agnes married Richard Lowell Harshfield on Nov. 21, 1942. Later she married Ivel Leon Weber on Aug. 8, 1967.
Agnes was a lifetime member of the Riverside Eastern Star, where she held a variety of offices including Worthy Matron. Her memories of the many friendships and activities was a great source of comfort during her illness.
As a child she attended Whitfield United Methodist Church. After moving to Riverside, she joined Riverside Methodist Church.
What Agnes considered her greatest passion was her family. Her zest for life was lavished on her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her imagination created a vast variety of activities that captivated children with lifetime of memories.
Agnes spent the last three years of her life at Casa de Paz Care Center, where she became loved by both staff and residents. The family feels blessed that Agnes felt at home there.
Agnes is survived by her son, Rick Harshfield (Valerie) of Bernice, Okla.; a daughter, Jackie Warnstadt (Steve) of Sioux City; stepson-in-law, Jeff Treglia of Sioux City; many nieces and nephews who considered themselves blessed to be a part of her family; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and helpful neighbor, Rick Carver.
Agnes was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Shirley Goldsmith and Blanche Lind; beloved stepdaughter, Barbara Miller Treglia; lifetime friend, Gladys Guy; and her husband, Ivel Leon Weber.
Pallbearers are Rich Harshfield, Troy Harshfield, Koty Harshfield, Taylor Hunter, Steve Warnstadt and Jeff Treglia.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Siouxland or Food Fight for Kids (A food backpack program for children at Leeds Elementary School).
