Albert "Al" Huser, 90, of Sioux City passed away Friday, Oct. 31, 2014, at a local nursing home.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Following the service, cremation rites will be accorded. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Al was born on Feb. 1, 1924 in Sioux City, to John and Sena (Jacobsen) Huser. He graduated from East High School in 1942 and was then drafted into the U.S. Army in 1943. Al served in World War II and after his discharge, continued in the Army Reserves for 41 years.
He was united in marriage to Patricia Gunderson on March 1, 1946, in Sioux City. She preceded him in death on Feb. 2, 2007. Al worked as a carpenter for Soren & Hansen as well as WA Klinger Inc. until he retired on Feb. 2, 1989.
He was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and was the president of Church Council for six years. He enjoyed working on various projects for the church and always had a project going on. Al liked square dancing, round dancing, and camping.
Those left to honor his memory include his children, Gary (Becky) Huser of Sioux City, and Gayle Williams of Granger, Iowa; grandchildren, Jason Williams and Jessica (Paul) Kramer; great-granddaughters, Sophie and Samantha Kramer; brother, Arthur (Kathryn) Huser of Sioux City; and sister-in-law, Barbara Huser of Sioux City.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; and brothers, Don and John Huser.
