SIOUX CITY -- Aletha A. "Lisa" Myers, 60, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at a Tucson, Ariz., hospital following a lengthy illness.
Memorial services will be noon Friday at the Riverside Park Shelter 5, with the Rev. John Woodford of Good News Baptist Church officiating. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the park. Arrangements are under the direction of Berkemier Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Aletha was born Feb. 15, 1950, in Sioux City, to Betty Christensen and Virgil Reed. She attended Sioux City Public Schools.
Aletha and her special friend, Malcolm Morrison, made their home in Sioux City, where they both were retired.
She was a loving wife, protective mother, a doting grandmother, adoring great-grandmother and a great sister and friend. She was always there to help those in need. Her family was the most important part of her life. She had many hobbies throughout her life including crafts and painting and could have been crowned the "Dumpster Diving Queen."
She is survived by her father, Virgil Reed of Sioux City; two daughters, Laura Carbajal of Sioux City and Jennifer Keleher of Le Mars, Iowa; three sons, Eddie Keleher, Chad Myers and David Myers, all of Sioux City; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five sisters, Susanne Furay of Mystic, Conn., Toni Olson, Pam Christensen, Carla and her husband, Mike Swingen and Amy and her husband, Randy Flesner, all of Sioux City; five brothers, Jerry Reed and his wife, Karen "Cricket", Tim Peterson and his wife, Linda and Wesley Sharon, all of Sioux City, Jimmy Reed and his special friend, Tracy of Jefferson, S.D., and Larry Dwyer of South Sioux City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Christensen; her stepfather, Leonard Christensen; a brother, Virgil "Petey" Reed; a nephew, Jason Reed; and her special friend, Malcolm Morrison.
