Alex Karolick, 91, of Sioux City, passed away Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, at home, after a brief illness.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are with Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Alex was born Dec. 17, 1924, in Sioux City, to John and Stella (Chernovich) Karolick. He served in the U.S. Army for three years. He served in World War II in Germany, where he was awarded the Bronze Star.
Alex was united in marriage to Jeannette Anderson on July 26, 1952 in Sioux City.
Alex was a lifelong resident of Sioux City, working at Armour & Co. and Sioux City Air Base, and retiring from the U.S. Postal Service in 1990.
He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church.
He enjoyed reading and spending time with his friends and family.
Survivors include his daughter, Brenda (Randall) Epperson; two grandsons, Alex and Andrew Epperson, all of Lincoln, Neb.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeannette; parents; daughter, Danette; sisters, Anna Karolick and Vera Popevis; and a brother, Harry Karolick.
Memorials may be made to the family for a donation to the Veterans Honor Flight, or to a charity of choice.
