Alfred Zaleta, 88, of Sioux City, Iowa passed on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at a local hospital with family by his side.
A Funeral service will be at 1:30 PM on Friday, December 16th at Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, Morningside Chapel located at 1801 Morningside Ave., Sioux City, Iowa 51106 with Pastor Bill Claeys of Riverz Edge Church officiating. Interment will be Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City, Iowa.
Visitation will be 4:00 8:00 PM on Thursday, December 15th at Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, Morningside Chapel.

Alfred was born October 5, 1934, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Joseph and Delores Zaleta. He graduated from High School in Pierre, South Dakota.
In 1952 Alfred joined the US Navy and was enlisted until 1956. Later Alfred married Marie Bluehorse in 1970 in Homer, Nebraska until she passed away in 1976. Alfred worked for IBP in maintenance from 1978- 1985. In 1978 Alfred married Patricia Hobbs in Sioux City, Iowa. He worked at Truck Haven from 1985 to 1990. In 1986 Patricia passed away.
He was a member of VFW and the American Legion Post #64. Alfred was also a member Loving Faith Fellowship along with Siouxland Active Generations.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Sheila Zaleta-Bumstead and Kerri Zaleta; son, Joe “Kip” (Cheryl) Zaleta; 7 grandchildren, Thomas Goldberg, Sean Goldberg, Jessica Lopez, Alexandria Lopez, Angel Crosby, Eric Zaleta, and Alivia Fernandez; 6 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Henry (Maxine) Zaleta of Oklahoma City, OK, Leo (Vickie) Zaleta of New Jersey and George Zaleta Miami, Florida; sister, Esther McAffee of Gibsonia, Pennsylvania.
He was preceded in death by both wives; parents; 2 brothers, William (Nancy) Zaleta and Arthur (Irene) Zaleta; brother-in-law, James McCaffee; grandson, Anthony Zaleta; significate other, Patty Harbeck.
