Alice Coppock, 99, a life long resident of Sioux City passed away Monday, Aug. 3, 2015, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today, with a rosary at 4 p.m. led by Carol Kelezer, at Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Alice was born on Sept. 7, 1915, to Thomas and Maria Giannetti. She attended Lowell, North Junior, and Central High School in Sioux City. She graduated from Central mid-year 1935. She was a volunteer for the Red Cross during the War.
Alice married Harold Coppock in 1941. She worked at J.C. Penney and Younker's Martin and Davidsons, retiring from there in 1981 to care for her husband. He preceded her in death on March 30, 1982.
Alice was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, the Secular Carmelites in Sioux City and a member of the Golden Age Club at Mary J. Treglia Community House. Alice volunteered at Mercy Medical for more than 24 years. She volunteered at the Center for Active Generations for Birthday Bash, Friday dances, and at Passport to Adventure when needed. Alice enjoyed working in her garden and sharing her homegrown vegetables. She loved her work and the people she helped.
Those left to honor her memory include her son, Dan Coppock of Sioux City; sister, Clara Lawson of Sioux City; stepdaughter, Donna (David) Lindgren; 15 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Veronica Luke and Fiona Valentine.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sisters, Philomeana (Lambert) Greteman, Lillian (Fred) Gilman, and Rita (Elmer) Lynch; brothers-in-law, Hank Johnson, and Ardel Lawson; and stepchildren, Carolyn Dunply, Hershel Coppock, Jerry Coppock, and Larry Coppock.
