Alice G. Galvin, 93, died Monday, February 1, 2021, at Westwood Specialty Care in Sioux City, IA.
A visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 5, 2021, at Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, Morningside Chapel, 1801 Morningside Ave., with a Liturgical Wake service at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Saturday, February 6, 2021, at Mater Dei Parish-Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Alice G. Theobald, the daughter of Nicholas and Celia (Topf) Theobald was born November 14, 1927, in Sioux City, IA. She was raised on a farm four miles west of Anthon, IA. Alice attended St. Joseph Catholic School in Anthon and graduated from Cathedral High School in Sioux City. She also attended Briar Cliff, at that time College, now University. During this time, Alice worked for Dr. F.W. Wilson Sr. of Sioux City.
On February 5, 1949, Alice was united in marriage with John R. “Jack” Galvin at St. Joseph Parish in Anthon. She was a homemaker and farmer’s wife. Alice also worked at MCI Services in Sergeant Bluff, IA for ten years, prior to her retirement in 1999. While at MCI, she excelled in Sales and Customer Support, winning several awards.
Alice was currently a member of Mater Dei Parish-Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Alice is survived by five sons, Vincent (Alice E.) of Sioux City, Daniel of Albany, NY, Patrick (Cindy) of Beulah, CO, Richard (Deborah) of Colorado Springs, CO, Joseph (Penny) of Monument, CO; twelve grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a sister-in-law, Cecelia (Jerry) McCarty; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a grandchild; and five siblings.
The family wishes to thank all those who assisted with Mom’s care these past four years. Visiting Angels (especially Wendy), Fr. Daniel Rupp, the Carmelite Sisters in Sioux City, the staff at Westwood Specialty Care, and Care Initiatives Hospice of Sioux City.
