Alicia S. Leamer, 76, of Sioux City, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2015, at Countryside, under hospice care after a brief illness.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, with the Revs. Russell Senstad, David Zirpel and Larry Troxel officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Alicia was born Sept. 8, 1938, in Sioux City, to Myron and Kleora (Cagann) Leamer. She attended Sioux City schools and graduated from East High in 1956. She furthered her education, graduating from Wayne (Neb.) State College with a Bachelor of Arts, and from Morningside College with a Master of Arts.
Alicia taught first grade in Burlington, Iowa, for four years; first grade in Battle Creek, Iowa, for two years; and first grade in Onawa, Iowa, until retirement in 1997.
She was baptized and confirmed, and was a lifelong member at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Alicia was a member of Sioux City Retired Educators, NEA, and ISEA.
Survivors include her sisters, Jacquelin Leamer and Patricia Leamer; a special second family, Sandra, Amy, Elizabeth and Heather Buster, and Craig Harris; cousins and second cousins; three godsons, Todd Jones, Curtis Johnson and Craig Harris; and numerous friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorials may be directed to Redeemer Lutheran Church, Siouxland Humane Society, or Food Bank of Siouxland.
