Allen Edwin Tasker, 90, of Sioux City died on April 25, 2015, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Morningside Presbyterian Church, 4327 Morningside Ave., with the Rev. David Koehler officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Allen was born on July 25, 1924, in Sioux City, the son of the late John and Mary Anne (Wallen) Tasker. He attended Everett Grade School, West Junior High School, graduating from Central High School. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1943, serving as a radio operator in World War II. He was deployed to Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe before being honorably discharged. When he returned home, he attended Morningside College and earned a bachelor's degree in accounting.
He married Eleanor Everett on June 1, 1951, in Sioux City. Allen was employed with Standard Oil Company as a traveling auditor in Sioux City, transferred to Mason City and later Storm Lake, Iowa, before moving back to Sioux City. He worked for Electro Medical Supply Company, retiring from FIMCO in 1990. Allen then worked part-time as the accountant at Brouillette Body Shop and continued doing tax accounting out of the family home. He did taxes for more than 40 years. Allen served as the crossing guard at Sunnybrook and Cypress for 13 school years.
He was a member of Morningside American Legion Post 697, Landmark Masonic Lodge 103 A.F. & A.M., 32nd Degree in the Scottish Rite Valley of Sioux City, Shriners Chanters, charter member of Sioux City Barber Shop chorus, and the Morning Sertoma Club. He was a member of Morningside Presbyterian Church of Sioux City, serving as an elected deacon and elder, and First Lutheran Church in South Sioux City. He sang in both church choirs and played bells in both bell choirs.
Surviving are his wife, Eleanor Tasker of Sioux City; son, Joel and Laura Tasker of Sioux City; three daughters, Jill and Tom Lovelace of Apple Valley, Minn., Jean (Tasker) Yohnke of Ames, Iowa, and Julie and Stan Tasker-Cox of Sioux City; nine grandchildren, Tyler and Susie Tasker, Justin Tasker, Grace and Claire Lovelace, Katie and Brenda Yohnke, Nickolas, Emilee and Christian Noyes; one great-grandchild, Easton Allen Tasker; a brother in-law, Charles Everett; a cousin, Peggy Reed; and numerous nieces and nephews,
He was preceded in death by son, Jeffrey Tasker; daughter, Janet Tasker; and brother, Walter Tasker.
Memorials may be directed to the family for charitable purposes to Morningside Presbyterian Church or First Lutheran Church in South Sioux City.
