SIOUX CITY -- Alma "Babe" Loretta Wulf, 86, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, March 31,2012, at a Sioux City nursing home.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Rev. Kathy Wicks will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Alma "Babe" Wulf was born on Sept. 21,1925, in Canton, S.D., the daughter of John H. and Anna (Farrand) Conner. She came to Sioux City as a small child and graduated from East High School.
On Feb. 6,1946, she married Elmer Wulf in Sioux City. Babe worked for Johnson Biscuit Co. and later worked as a lunch lady at Washington School, where the students would call her "Grandma." She retired in 1987. Elmer died on Feb. 8,1988, in Sioux City.
She was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church. She loved gardening, growing vegetables and flowers. She made many quilts, loved to cook and was known for her baking. She was an avid walker and loved spending time and visiting with people. Her door was always open.
She is survived by five children, Roger of Sioux City, Sharon and Dan Willison of Fresno, Calif., Jim of Billings, Mont., Larry and Julie of Sioux City, and David of Salix, Iowa; 13 grandchildren, Jason, Jennifer, Jacki, Danny Jr., Heather, Nichole, Michelle, Matt, Danielle, Greg, Joshua, Dustin, and Tiffany; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Barbara Conner of Temecula, Calif.; brother-in-law, John Murphy of Le Mars, Iowa; and sisters-in-law, Joyce and Bob Yusten of Dakota City, and Dixie Wulf of Bronson, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Ken; brothers, George, Dick, and Bob; and her sister, Setma "Sissie" Forsighte.
