Alma F. Moravec
Alma F. Moravec, 86, of Sioux City died Saturday, June 30, 2007, at a local nursing home.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Craig Bock officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.
Alma was born March 19, 1921, at Red Oak, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Leora Mae (Cox) Roland. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Sioux City, where she attended school and graduated from East High School. She continued her education and graduated from Morningside College in 1942. Alma worked as a social worker for the American Red Cross until 1945.
She married Lloyd Moravec on Nov. 28, 1942, in Sioux City. Together they owned and operated Heritage House Antiques for more than 40 years. Lloyd died in 2001.
She was a member of St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church. Alma enjoyed studying and traveling.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Jonathan and Ruthey Moravec of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Malissa and Mark Stoll of Deep Haven, Minn.; five grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and 13 great-step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Leora Roland.
