Sioux City - Alvina W. Lopau, 93, of Sioux City, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at Bickford Cottage in Sioux City
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Joshua Potter officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Alvina was born July 29, 1919, at Ellsworth, Minn., the daughter of William and Alice (Habbena) Sumption. When she was a young girl, she moved with her family to the Sheldon, Iowa, area, where she attended school.
Alvina married George Brower on May 28, 1936, in Sioux Falls, S.D. They made their home in Sibley, Iowa. They later divorced.
Alvina moved to Sioux City in 1959. She worked as a receptionist for Dr. Kelberg and Dr. Boggs for many years before going to work at IBP as an office clerk.
Alvina married Byron Lopau on Dec. 10, 1989, in Sioux City. They made their home in Sibley. Byron died in 2008. After his death, Alvina moved back to Sioux City.
She was a member of Sibley United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her daughters, Georgia (Richard) Davis of Santa Maria, Calif., and Rochelle (Jack) Beachy of Sioux City; her sons, Jerry (Patti) Brower of Sioux City and Randy (Claudette) Brower of Dakota Dunes; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Scott Brower; and a granddaughter, Kelly Brower.
