Andrew Gorter, 81, of Sioux City, passed away Sunday, June 25, 2017, at his residence surrounded by his loving family under the care of Hospice of Siouxland.
Graveside services will be noon Thursday in Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Larkin Chapel Christy-Smith Funeral Homes.
Andrew was born on Feb. 12, 1936, in Doon, Iowa, the son of William and Elizabeth (Lems) Gorter. He was a truck driver for many years working primarily with Norco Feeds.
Andrew was united in marriage with Paulette Faber on Feb. 16, 2015. They had been together for more than 40 years.
Andrew enjoyed taking immaculate care of his yard. He was a wonderful husband father, grandfather, brother, and friend to everyone he met. He loved visiting with family and friends.
His life will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Paulette; his sons, Rick (Christine) and Dale (Susan) Gorter, both of Lakewood, Colo.; his brother, Ardell (Connie) Gorter; his sister, Betty Gorter; four grandchildren, Ricky, Rachael, Kaely and Leah Gorter; one great-grandchild, Jimmy Gorter and expecting one more in October; and two stepchildren, Chad Berndt, and Dawn Lamb.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lawrence and Leonard; and a sister, Cora Van Surksum.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Andrew's name be made to Hospice of Siouxland.
