SIOUX CITY -- Ann M. Bouyok, 94, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at Holy Spirit Retirement Home.
Services will be 10:45 a.m. Saturday at Holy Spirit Retirement Center, with the Rev. Dennis Meinen officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a Catholic Daughters of America and Carmelite Guild Board rosary at 4 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Ann Marie Vakulskas was born July 29, 1914, in Sioux City, to Anthony and Mary Vakulskas. She attended and graduated from Cathedral High School in Sioux City.
She and Michael Bouyok were married on Jan. 19, 1938, in Sioux City. She was very family oriented and was very socially active.
She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and St. Casimir's Parish until it closed. She also was a member of the Carmelite Guild board and the Rosary Society of St. Casimir Parish.
She is survived by her daughters, Theresa Bouyok of Sioux City, Phyllis and her husband, Norris Hoover of Denver, Colo., and Elaine and her husband, Ron Cowles of Colorado Springs, Colo.; brothers, Peter and his wife, Mercedes Vakulskas of Sioux City and Charles Vakulskas of Sioux City; grandchildren, Mark and his wife, Kelly Hoover, Matthew and his wife, Gina Hoover and Brian and his wife, Marisha Cowles, all of Denver, Colo., and Brent and his wife, Regina Cowles of Colorado Springs; and great-grandchildren, Nichole and Cortney Cowles and Benjamin Hoover.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Michael in 1989; brothers, John Vakulskas and Joseph Vakulskas; and a sister, Berniece Lemek.
Ann will be dearly missed.
