Ann Agnes Yorkus (Zebus)

Ann A. Yorkus, 95, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:30 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6:30 to 8 p.m., a rosary at 4 p.m. conducted by the Catholic Daughters of America and Carmel Guild Board and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Ann Agnes Zebus was born April 22, 1913, in Sioux City, the daughter of Stephen and Katherine (Shilgalis) Zebus. She attended and graduated from East High School with the class of 1931.

She and John Yorkus were married April 27, 1947 in New York City. She worked as a sales clerk at Macy's Department Store in New York City.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She also was a member of St. Casimir Church, Rosary Society, Knights of Lithuania Council 12, Catholic Daughters and America Ave Maria Court 269, Carmelite Board Catholic Women's League and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 64.

She is survived by a sister, Helen Yurkus of Atlanta, Ga.; a nephew and his wife, Walter and Loretta Yurkus of Scarsdale, N.Y.; and nieces and husbands, Barbara and Lionel Stiger of Atlanta, Ga., Bernadine and Eugene Rolfes of Phoenix, Ariz., Dr. Joan Till of Lincoln, Neb., and Judy and Jim Tadlock of Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John in 1981; and brothers, Frank and Benedict.
