Anna Margaret Erca Krause Lundahl, 99, of Sioux City passed away June 28, 2014 at a local nursing home.
Private family services will be held. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Anna Margaret Erca Krause Lundahl was born on July 3, 1914 , in Omaha , to James and Carrie Erca. She was a 1932 graduate of Omaha South High School with a double course of fine arts and secretarial skills. In 1932, the students of South High elected her Queen of Popularity.
On May 30, 1938 , she married Elwin Chester Krause. They operated Modern Office Supply Co. in downtown Sioux City for many years. Mr. Krause preceded her in death in 1976. In 1994, she married Lester Lundahl, since deceased.
Margaret was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church and served as the pianist and organist. She was also a sought-after accompanist by vocal soloists in the area. Margaret was active in many women’s clubs over the years including Chapter KE, PEO, Sioux City Women’s Club, and Morningside Chapter 502 OES, where she served as Worthy Matron and attained 50-year membership. She also was a member of Hathor Temple No. 38, and Daughter of the Nile , Mizpah Shrine No. 13. She worked with the Rainbow Girls and earned the Grand Cross of Colors.
She was also active in the National Secretaries Association, and was a past president of that organization. In 1967, she was elected Secretary of the Year. She was also a member of the Quota Club International. She was a past president of Iota Delphian and Mystic Study Clubs. She served as charter president of Abu Bekr Shrine Widows Kan-Duettes and was a member of Floyd Park Women’s Golf Club. Margaret was active in music circles and was a member of Shubert Club.
Margaret’s great loves were family and extended family as well as traveling and the arts and performing arts. She was proud of her Swedish and Romanian heritage.
She is survived by her daughter, Marilynne (Paul) Alexander; daughter-in-law, Linda Sales Krause; sister, Bette Swanson; grandchildren, Jean (David) Gifford, Andrew (Terri) Alexander, Tressa (Rich) Hinrichs, Nicholas (Kim) Krause; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. She was Aunty Margaret to all her nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by son, James; sisters, Blanche McGarrh, and Virginia Bogatz; and brother, Carl Erca.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Luke Lutheran Church, Hospice of Siouxland, the Shrine Transportation Fund or the organization of your choice.
