Anna M. Lapora

Anna M. Lapora, 84, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, at Countryside Senior Living Center.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with the Rev. Armand Bertrand officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Anna was born on Oct. 7, 1929, in Westfield, Iowa, to John and Eva (Bollard) Greiner, and moved to Sioux City shortly after she was born. She was a lifetime resident of Sioux City. She graduated from East High School in 1947.
Anna married Gerald Lapora on Nov. 28, 1971, in Sioux City. She worked for Blue Cross of Western Iowa and South Dakota for 31 years. After her retirement, Anna worked at the Evie’s Hallmark and the ½ Price Store.
Anna enjoyed visiting family across the country, was an avid shopper, and was a longtime volunteer at Mercy Medical Center. She loved her dogs and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Gerald Lapora; daughters, Debbie (Mike) Krysl, and Jessie (Dave) Hicks; grandsons, Joshua and Jacob Krysl; and a brother-in-law, Larry Runion.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jack; and sisters, Betty Greiner, and Evelyn Runion.
