Anne (Griffin) Hestbech, 79 of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at her residence.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with the Rev. Daniel C. Guenther officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:30 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a 7 p.m. prayer service, at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, 1801 Morningside Ave. Condolences may be sent to

Anne was born Sept. 15, 1928, in Dunterra, New Foundland, Canada, to Michael and Anastasia (Harty) Griffin. She was raised in New Foundland and also attended school there.
On Oct. 31, 1951, she married Carl Phillip Hestbech in Placentia, New Foundland, Canada. He passed away o April 15, 2004, in Florida. After her marriage to her husband, she came to the U.S. and resided in Kansas, New Mexico and Des Moines, until coming to Sioux City in 1959, where she had resided until the present time. She was a homemaker and an in-home daycare provider until her retirement.
Anne was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Altar Society, Catholic Daughters and a Bereavement Committee member. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting, sewing and family gatherings. She will always be remembered as being a patient, calm and sweet-hearted individual.
Survivors include three daughters, Carol Hestbech of Sioux City, Linda Sterling of Spencer, Iowa, and Patricia and Jonathon Koll; a son, Robert and Rachel Hestbech of Grand Forks, N.D.; six grandchildren, Brian, Kevin and Anthony Koll, Michael and Matthew Sterling and Karl Hestbech; and a brother, Raymond Griffin of Ontario, Canada.
She was preceded in death by her husband; three sisters, Susanna Whelan, Joan Ducey and Letitia Innes; and a son-in-law, James Sterling.
