Annette W. Glover-Eberly (Whitinger)

LAWTON, Iowa -- Annette W. Glover-Eberly, 87, of Lawton passed away Friday, Oct. 5, 2007, at a Sioux City nursing home.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Community Presbyterian Church in Lawton, with Peggy Hegeman officiating. Burial will be in Banner Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with the family present 5 to 8 p.m., a prayer service at 7 p.m. followed by an Order of the Eastern Star service, at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith McCulloch Chapel in Moville, Iowa.

Annette was born Dec. 1, 1919, in Sioux Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Glenn Allen and Leah (Cate) Whitinger. She grew up and attended school in the Sioux Rapids area. She later attended and graduated from Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Iowa, with a bachelor of arts degree in music. She later attended the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, where she obtained her master's in music.

She married E.L. "Bud" Glover on Aug. 7, 1943, in Dakota City. He passed away Oct. 10, 1969. She later married Wayne Eberly on March 30, 1973, in Lawton. She taught music in public schools at Lawton-Bronson, Woodbury Central, Paullina and Rockwell City, all in northwest Iowa. She later taught voice at Morningside College from 1973 to 1975 and Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa, from 1973 to 1981.

She served as an elder at Community Presbyterian Church in Lawton. She also was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star 502, A.T.D. Club, American Legion Auxiliary and the Garden Club.

Survivors include her husband, Wayne L. Eberly of Lawton; two sons and their wives, the Rev. Timothy Chris and Joan Glover of Zion, Ill., and Allan Lee and Jane Glover of Rapids City, S.D.; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three stepchildren and their spouses, Beverly and Dean Swan of Rogers, Ark., Ronald Wayne and Jean Eberly of Yankton, S.D., and Rita and Dan Rahn of Sioux City; five stepgrandchildren; and five great-stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, E.L. "Bud" Glover; her parents; a stepgrandchild; a sister, Mary Margaret Innannen; and a brother, Glen Ivan Whitinger.

Memorials may be directed to the Teacher's Memorial in care of Lawton-Bronson School, Hospice of Siouxland or Community Presbyterian Church.
