Mitchell, SD – Anthony L. “Tony” Honomichl, 66, of Jefferson, SD died Monday, October 17, 2022, at Firesteel Healthcare in Mitchell, SD.
A visitation will be 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday, October 20, 2022, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Jefferson, SD, with a parish vigil at 6:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 21, 2022, at St. Peter’s. Anthony Louis “Tony” Honomichl, the son of Ben and Georgia (Melmer) Honomichl was born February 16, 1956, in Jacksonville, FL. He attended school in Jefferson at St. Peter’s.
On August 20, 1977, Tony was united in marriage with Sheryl Hoffman at St. Peter’s in Jefferson. The couple later divorced but remained life-long friends. This union was blessed with four children, Daniel, Amanda, Mary, and Jessica.
Tony was a diligent worker and enjoyed numerous hobbies. He worked as a welder for many years – both as a freelance welder and for All Purpose Trailer before becoming a full-time farmer at Honomichl Farms. He enjoyed hunting, attending Duck Unlimited and White-tail Unlimited events, fishing, and spending time with friends and family. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand when he could.
Tony was a member of St. Peter’s Church, Duck Unlimited, and White-tail Unlimited. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but his greatest love was his family.
Tony is survived by his four children, Daniel (Jenna) Honomichl of Bloomington, MN, Amanda (Seth) DeBoer, Mary Honomichl and Jessica (fiancé: Rodney McFarland) Honomichl, all of North Sioux City; grandchildren: Lincoln Honomichl, Memphis DeBoer, Phoebe Honomichl, Sofia DeBoer, and Aspen DeBoer; siblings, Joan (Marvin) Dixon of Tyndall, SD, Ben (Sue) Jr of Jefferson, Loren of Westcliffe, CO, Neil (Jacqueline) of Jefferson, Chris (Dianne) of Coeur d'Alene, ID, Mark (Kathy) of Commerce City, CO, Kathy (Kenne) Stalder of Whitewood, SD; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his former wife; an infant sister, Carmen; and an infant brother, David.
