SIOUX CITY -- Anvey E. Swanson, 96, of Sioux City passed away Friday, March 6, 2009, at Countryside Retirement Center.
Services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dann Speichinger of Washington Heights Chapel officiating. Anvey Elmer Swanson was born March 12, 1912, in Sioux City, to Martin and Sadie Elizabeth Marie (Johnson) Swanson. He was raised on a farm north of Sioux City and worked for Swanson Builders in construction all of his life.
He was a long time member of Washington Heights Chapel, where he taught Sunday School and led prayer meetings.
He is survived by his wife, Zeta of Sioux City; two sons, Stan of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Don of Oto, Iowa; three daughters and their husbands, Nancy and Paul Trawicki of Centennial, Colo., Elsie and George Kamm of Branson, Mo., and Carol and Ed McNiece of Worthington, Minn.; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; four brothers; two sons; a grandson; and a great-granddaughter.
