Sioux City - Arcelia F. Welch, 93, of Sioux City died Saturday, July 14, 2012, at Sunrise Retirement Community.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
Arcelia was born on Sept. 26, 1918, in Sioux City, to Harvey and Carrie (Davis) Beckner. She attended East High School.
She was a devoted single parent who worked very hard to support her family. She worked at Armour Packing for 17 years. She was a senior companion for 11 years.
She had been a member of Billy Sunday Memorial Tabernacle since 1958. Her most precious accomplishment were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include a daughter, Lois and Tom Miller of McAllen, Texas; a son, Kenny and Lesley Welch of Washta, Iowa; grandchildren, Tom Miller Jr., Timothy Welch, Amy Welch, Kristi Van Zanten, Ken Welch, and Rebecca Duncan, Rick Zortman, Becky Zortman, Rusty Zortman; great-grandchildren, Allen, Thomas III, Travis, Christopher, Faith, Hope, Michael, Justin, Bryce, Mackenzie, Riley, Lindsey, and Karlee; and 28 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Michael; daughter-in-law, Evie; a granddaughter, Michaele; and nine siblings.
