Ardith M. Anderson, 88, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, May 29, 2016, at a local nursing home.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. James United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Westfork Township Cemetery at Climbing Hill, Iowa. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Ardith was born on Dec. 29, 1927, in Bronson, Iowa, to Robert and Bessie (Cisne) Vermilyea. She graduated from Climbing Hill High School in 1945.
She was united in marriage to Robert Anderson on May 8, 1952, in Sioux City at First United Methodist Church. She worked for 12 years at Northwest Bell and also as a librarian and teacher’s aide for the Sioux City Community School District.
Ardith was a member of St. James United Methodist Church and the church circle there. She enjoyed scrapbooking, planting flowers, spending time with family, and going to her grandchildren’s events. She especially enjoyed her annual Easter Egg Hunt. Ardith was a member of several groups and clubs over the years.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Bob of Sioux City; daughters, Lora (John) Trudeau of Jefferson, S.D., and Sara Fuller (Lorenzo Hampton) of Sioux City; five grandchildren, Andrew and Bob Trudeau, J.C, Lynsey and Allysen Fuller; sisters, Ruth Klasey of California, and Joyce Binns of Texas; former son-in-law, Jon Fuller of Sioux City; and her South Olive Bunch “S.O.B” friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ray, Dale and Steve Vermilyea; sister, Wanda Steckermeier; and several nieces and nephews.
