Arlys Arlene Schreiner (Wittrock)

SIOUX CITY -- Arlys Arlene Schreiner, 79, of Sioux City died Friday, Aug. 19, 2011 at her home after a battle of several months with ALS.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Storm Lake United Methodist Church in Storm Lake, Iowa. Burial will be in the Storm Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present 6:30 to 8 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Sioux City. Visitation will resume 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church in Storm Lake. The family will be present from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Arlys was born on Feb. 11, 1932 in Sutherland, Iowa. She was the daughter of Harry and Velma (Orthmann) Wittrock. She was raised in Sutherland and graduated from Sutherland High School in 1951.
She married David Schreiner on June 27, 1952 in Sutherland. The couple moved to Peterson, Iowa, and lived there for 20 years. She earned her teacher's degree from Buena Vista College and was a business teacher at Albert City High School. They then moved to Storm Lake, Iowa, where she taught in Storm Lake for 10 years. Arlys and David owned and operated the Hy-Vigor Seed Company in Paullina, Iowa. David died in 2005 in Storm Lake. Arlys moved to Sioux City four years ago to be with Denny Larson.
She was an avid gardener, loved boating and water skiing. But what she loved most was her family. She was a former member of the Peterson United Methodist Church and attended Storm Lake Methodist Church and the St. James United Methodist Church in Sioux City.
She is survived by her three children, Jeff of Dallas, Texas, Lynn MacKennon of Olympia, Wash., and Scott of Sioux City; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a sister and her husband, Darlene and Frank Lange of San Clemente, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
