Arnold Orrashia Zediker

July 16, 1919 — November 25, 2008

SIOUX CITY -- Arnold O. Zediker, 89, of Sioux City passed peacefully Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008, at Countryside Senior Living from complications of diabetes.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Grace United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Mapleton, Iowa. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Arnold was born July 19, 1919, to George and Edna (Muckey) Zediker. He graduated from Castana (Iowa) High School in 1938. He was an outstanding baseball pitcher in high school and led his team to the state tournament.

On April 18, 1940, he was united in marriage to Eunice "June" Lane. He farmed in the Castana and Galva, Iowa, areas prior to moving to Sioux City in 1962. He worked at Needham's Dressed Beef from which he retired in 1974.

He enjoyed playing cards and bowling, but took the greatest pleasure in watching activities of his children and grandchildren and being around family.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 68 years, Eunice; sons, Avery (Kay) Zediker of Sioux City, Arnie (Phyllis) Zediker of Urbandale, Iowa, and Steve (Nancy) Zediker of Sioux City; a daughter, Judy (Dennis) Weaver of Moville, Iowa; a brother, George (Romona) Zediker of Burlington, Wash.; 16 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Clark; and sisters, Yvonne McDonald and Maxine Baker.
