Arnold Lyle Zellmer

SIOUX CITY -- Arnold Lyle Zellmer, 71, of Sioux City died Monday, Oct. 6, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Kevin Lee officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.christysmith.com .

Arnold was born Jan. 11, 1937, on a farm in Bronson, Iowa, the son of Gustav Herman and Kathryn Kristina (Rippke) Zellmer. He lived on the family farm and graduated from Bronson High School in 1955.

On Aug. 9, 1956, he married Lorna Lu Arneson. He farmed most of his life. They lived on the farm until they moved to Sioux City in 1983. He retired in 2004 due to poor health.

He was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church. He enjoyed gardening and raising flowers, but what he loved most was spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Donna Fiscus and her special friend, Brian Kool of Sioux City; two sons, Mark and his special friend, Ellie Brown of Las Vegas, Nev., and Curt and his wife, Audrey of Ankeny, Iowa; grandchildren, Troy Carnes, Rob Fiscus, Kayla Fiscus and Ashley, Austin and Aaron Zellmer; three sisters and their husbands, Lorna and Marv Ebert of Marcus, Iowa, Lois and Bob Brown of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., and Lorene and Kent Rogers of Kansas City, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother and his wife, Mervin and Jessie Zellmer.

Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
