SIOUX CITY -- Arthur G. McDonald, 83, of Sioux City passed away May 1, 2011, at a local hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Michael Ring officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to

Arthur was born July 24, 1927, in Willow Springs, Mo., to James W. and Myrtle V. (Cox) McDonald. He grew up and attended school in Missouri. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He later moved to Salem, Mo., and then St. Louis. He came to Siouxland in 1974 and had been a resident here since. He was a mechanic. He also worked as an iron worker when he came to Sioux City.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing the harmonica, barbecues and family gatherings.
Survivors include his children, Joseph and Joyce McDonald, Victor McDonald, Leasa and William Vargas and Regina "Ginny" Green; grandchildren, Jonathon (Kristi), Sarah (Troy Sturges), Jason, Christina, Shawnee Martin, Kyle Sously, Nikki Lamphear, James Gehrig, Stefani Kimber and Cheyenne Whitlock; and great-grandchildren, Angaleigh, Winona, Sawyer, Serenity and Hailee Sturges, Jaydan Pettiergrew, Aurora and Gabriel Martin.
