Audrey Georgesen

Audrey Opal Georgesen, 91, of Moville passed away Thursday, July 16, 2014, at an assisted living facility in Shawnee, Kan., after a brief illness.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Moville United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Arlington Township Cemetery at Moville. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of McCulloch Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Moville.
Audrey was born on Aug. 4, 1922 in Moville, to William A. and Mattie Alice (Leinbaugh) Luse. She graduated from high school in Strawberry Point, Iowa and attended Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa, and Morningside College in Sioux City. She then taught school in both Strawberry Point and Moville for two years. After teaching she worked in the accounting department of Wagner, Garrison and Abbott, a livestock commission firm in Sioux City, for seven years.
She was united in marriage to George S. Georgesen from Homer, Neb. on June 5, 1949 . They moved to Kansas City in 1951, staying there until 1958, when they moved back to Sioux City. They moved to Moville in 1988. She worked for the family business (home construction and apartment rentals) as the financial manger for 30 years.
She was a member of the Moville Methodist Church. She volunteered her services to the United Methodist Women and the Legion Auxiliary. She loved singing, piano playing, ballroom dancing, clogging, reading and traveling. She spent the winters in Mesa, Ariz., during her retirement years.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, Ronald Georgesen of Eitzen, Minn., and Linda Georgesen of Shawnee, Kans.; sisters, Janice Farnum of Maquoketa, Iowa, Lucille (Duane) Knos of Rupert, Idaho; brother, Sylvan (Donna) Luse of Hornick, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; son, Steven W. Georgesen; brothers, Kenneth, William Jr., Melvin, Darrel and Wayne Luse; and sisters, Lois Jewell and Wilma Bergen.
