Barbara Jean "Barb" Shults (Baker)

BRONSON, Iowa -- Barbara Jean Shults, 74, of Bronson died Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at her residence.

Services will be 7 p.m. today at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Sioux City, with the Rev. Charles Wolff officiating. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Memorial Park Cemetery. Following the graveside service Saturday a luncheon will be served at the Christy-Smith Resource Center. Visitation will be 3:30 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Barbara was born March 11, 1936, in Sioux City, the daughter of Clarence and Wilma (Widner) Baker. She grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Central High School.

She married Frank L. Shults in Elk Point, S.D., on June 25, 1971. They made their home in Sioux City. She worked at Economy Market, Zenith, Cargill and Sioux Vet Supplies. Frank died Sept. 2, 2009.

She loved spending time with the family, especially buying gifts for her great-grandchildren. She enjoyed shopping, rummage sales, watching soap operas along with her dog, Sammy, and 2 or 7 after work.

Survivors include two sons, Tim and Kathy Shults and Gary Shults and Melissa "Mo" Ehlers, all of Sioux City; five daughters, Rayleen and Brian Sharp of Sioux City, Julie Trudell of Kanai, Ala., Tracy and Tom O'Neill of Fredricksburg, Va., Susan Brandt of Sioux City and Mikki Smith and Rick Perera of Sioux City; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; her mother, Wilma Baker; a brother, Gary and Mary Ellen Baker of Minnesota; and a sister, Margy and Jon Gallagher of St. Helena, Neb.

She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Baker; her husband, Frank; and a daughter, Kathleen.
