SIOUX CITY -- Barbara "Bart" E. Brewer, 25, of Sioux City passed away Oct. 21, 2010, at a local hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Duane Miesner of First Lutheran Church of Kingsley, Iowa, officiating. Burial will be in Grant Township Cemetery at Rodney, Iowa. Visitation will be 3 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Bart was born on Oct. 8, 1985 in Sioux City. She grew up and had been a lifelong resident of the Siouxland area. She attended Sioux City schools and graduated from West High School in 2006. She was employed with Mid-Step Services in the packaging and sorting department.
Bart was a former member of the Open Bible Church in Sioux City. Some of her greatest loves in life were eating McDonalds' french fries, swimming, listening to music, "ising" (exercising with her sister), being with family members, going for drives and eating ice cream (with her dad).
Survivors include her foster dad, Doug Mordhorst of Sioux City; foster sister, Amy Mordhorst, foster brothers, Troy and Travis Mordhorst, both of Sioux City; three nieces, Taylor, Delaney and Ramsey Mordhorst; grandmother, Ruth Mordhorst of Smithland, Iowa; aunt, Alice Franzen of Coleridge, Iowa; numerous aunts and uncles; also, a special friend, Darla Bauer of South Sioux City.
She was preceded in death by her foster mother, Lucinda "Cindy" Mordhorst; grandparents, Mike and Irene Hansel; and grandfather, Clifford Mordhorst.
