Barbara Sue Burke, 64, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Faith Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Ralph Shorey officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Barbara was born Sept. 25, 1950, in Sioux City, to Eugene and Marilyn (Salsness) Smith. Barb graduated from Central High School in 1969.
She married John "Mike" Burke on May 9, 1969 in Omaha. Barb was employed at St. Luke’s Hospital as a Unit Secretary in ICU for 13 years.
She had a love for horses which began in her childhood with her friend, Champ. Barb enjoyed working in her yard, traveling, her sons and grandchildren’s sporting events including hockey and basketball.
Survivors include her husband, Mike Burke; sons, Brian Burke and Keith (Chloe) Burke; grandchildren, Colton, Brett, Rhaigen, Kailey and Spencer Burke; brothers, Dan (Georgeann) Smith of Boise, Idaho, Doug (Janie) Smith of Waukesha, Wis., Rusty (Nancy) Smith of Boise, and Ron (Heidi) Smith of Victoria, Minn.; sisters, Pat (Jim) Langsdale of Houston, Texas, and Cindy Smith of Sioux City; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Scott Smith; and a nephew, Kip Smith.
