SIOUX CITY -- Barbara J. (Barb) Polreis, 59, of Sioux City died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011, at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.

Barb was born Sept. 8, 1952, in Sioux Falls, S.D., the daughter of Edwin and Muriel Polreis. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Sioux City where she attended St. Boniface Grade School, then graduated from Heelan High School in 1970. She continued her education at Briar Cliff University, then worked in retail for a brief time before starting her career with Job Service of Iowa, later Iowa Workforce Development Center. Barb retired in 2008 after 33 years of service.
Barb was a giving and caring person who loved helping others and spending time with her family. She took special delight in the children in the family, and made every family occasion extra special with her gifts and her fun loving spirit.
Survivors include three sisters and their spouses, Mary Anne and William Nooney of Sioux City, Diane and Daniel Siebersma of Fort Pierre, S.D., and Karen and Michael Tracy of Sioux City. She was dearly loved by her seven nieces and nephews, Barbara Schullo, Christopher Tracy, John Tracy, Meghan Ploeger, Aaron Siebersma, Kristen Henders, and Isaac Polreis; by her four grandnieces, Kate and Rachel Schullo, Nola Tracy, and Nevaeh Polreis; and by her two grandnephews, Jack Schullo and Asher Henders.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, David Polreis; a sister and brother who died as infants; and her nephew, David Polreis.
