LAWTON, Iowa -- Barbara A. Wilson, 79, of Sioux City, formerly of Lawton, passed away Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008, at Sunrise Retirement Community in Sioux City.
Memorial services will be 7 p.m. today at Community Presbyterian Church in Lawton. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service today at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of McCulloch Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Moville, Iowa.
Barbara was born July 27, 1929, in Moville, Iowa, the daughter of Orville and Olive (Rheam) Bashaw. She attended country school not too far from her home and graduated from Moville High School in 1946. She attended college in York and Wayne, Neb., for her teaching degree. She student taught at Climbing Hill Elementary School in Climbing Hill, Iowa.
On May 5, 1950, she married Milo Wilson at the UB Church in Moville. Together, they made their home in Lawton and were blessed with five children. The couple enjoyed many hours at horse shows and rodeos. She had a full-time job taking care of their home and children, while enjoying crocheting and sewing for the family. She worked at several jobs through the years and retired from the Singing Hills Wal-Mart after 15 years as a cashier.
She was a member of Lawton Community Presbyterian Church. Her greatest joy were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved watching them participate in various events and always looked forward to spending the week at the Woodbury County Fair with her family and playing bingo. She had many special friends at Sunrise Retirement Community and will be missed by many.
She is survived by her children, Milo "Rick" and Barb Wilson, Chauncey and Debra Wilson, Rob and Nancy Wilson, Teresa and Randy Bokemper and Jim and Sharol Wilson; grandchildren, Dade Wilson, Jeff (Tara) Hill, Cody (Stacy) Myers, Molly (Nate) Schellinger, Lacy (Leathen) Richards, Sally Wilson, Dan, Conner and Ethan Riley, Rashelle, Megan, Jennifer and Rebecca Wilson, Randy Jr. and Ben Bokemper; great-grandchildren, Lauren and Avery Myers and Cheyenne and Allison Hill; and a brother, Dean Bashaw.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Milo Wilson; her parents; a brother, Carroll Bashaw; and a son-in-law, Loren Myers.
