SIOUX CITY -- Benjamin C. "Ben" Brown, 4, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Grace United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Valerie Heller officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent online to www.christysmith.com .

Benjamin Christopher Brown was born Dec. 2, 2003, in Sioux City, to Melissa Brown.

He enjoyed riding four-wheelers, playing golf with grandpa, trains, airplanes, chasing Snickers (the cat), catching lady bugs, playing in his sandbox, spending time with grandpa, boating with his cousin Kamryn, going to school and anything with Spiderman. He was excited about being able to attend kindergarten next year, where they have the big toys.

He is survived by his mother, Melissa and father, Drew DeKok of Sioux City; grandparents, Mary Ann Brown and her husband, Gerry Gatzemeyer of Sioux City, Steven Brown of Kelly, Iowa, and Tim and his wife, Carla Rubel of Sioux City; great-grandparents, Dorothy Allen of Ashtabula, Ohio, Phyllis Brown of Onawa, Iowa, Don "Doc" Rubel of Sioux City, Patricia Gatzemeyer of Florida, and Sharon Hasler of Sioux City; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Dennis DeKok; great-grandparents, Wilbert Allen, Edwin Brown, Patricia Rubel, Raymond Gatzemeyer Sr., and Robert "Bobby" Hasler.

Pallbearers will be Todd Shufelt, Rob Olivia, Scott Salter, Shane Johnson, Taylor Made and Nick "Red" Adams. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Brown, Daven DeKok and Dar DeKok.

A memorial fund has been established at Dakota State Bank in South Sioux City.
