Berneice E. Grangaard, 96, of Sioux City, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2016, at a local nursing home.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Riverside Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Elk Point Cemetery, Elk Point, S.D. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Berkemier Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Berneice was born on Feb. 1, 1920, in Vermillion, S.D., to Anton and Sarah (Thompson) Wold. She married Harley W. Grangaard on June 25, 1938 in Parker, S.D. The couple farmed in the Wakonda, S.D. area for several years. They moved to Sioux City in 1959 and lived there since. Harley preceded her in death in 2002. Berneice worked at Woolworth's for 25 years.
She enjoyed crafting and displaying her work at craft shows.
Those left to honor her memory include her sons, Wendell (Patricia) Grangaard of Sioux Falls, S.D., Danny (Christine) Grangaard of Tok, Alaska, and Ronnie (Shirley) Grangaard of Elk Point, SD; daughter-in-law, Deanna Grangaard, Elk Point; 20 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and 26 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Jerry; sister, Sylvia Johnson; brother, Julius Wold; and two grandchildren.
