Sioux CIty - Bernice Darlene Johnson, 88, of Peoria, Ill., formerly of Sioux City, died Saturday, July 28, 2012, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City. Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Sioux City. Bernice was born on Nov. 2, 1923, in Sioux City, to Glen and Lola Mae Nickum Swift. She married Wesley W. Johnson on Sept. 9, 1939, in Dakota City. He died on Dec. 27, 1983, in Sioux City. She worked in bookkeeping for 35 years at Sioux City Stationery Office Systems.
She was a member of St. Philomena Catholic Church in Peoria, and Nativity Parish in Sioux City.
She is survived by four sons, Philip (Nancy) Johnson of Minnetonka, Minn., Clark (Gayle) Johnson of Peoria, Steven Johnson of St. Paul, Minn., and Douglas (Marcia) Johnson of Franktown, Colo.; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ann Weiss; two brothers; and two sisters.
