SIOUX CITY -- Bertha Bradshaw, 91, of Sioux City died Thursday, March 17, 2011, at Countryside Senior Living Center.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, with the Rev. Ryan Christenson, pastor of St. James United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mrs. Bradshaw was born on Oct. 23, 1919, in Denison, Iowa, daughter of George and Margarethe C. (Hildebrandt) Duzik. The family moved to Sioux City in 1928. She graduated from East High School in 1938.
She married Gilmour H. Bradshaw on Nov. 5, 1940, in Le Mars, Iowa. Mr. Bradshaw died on Nov. 22, 2001, in Bullhead City, Ariz. Bertha was employed at Rosenthal Transfer Co. for seven years. She then went to work at Sears Department Store in the personnel department. She was employed at Sears for 30 years before retiring.
She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church and was involved in many of the church's activities. She was also a member of Women of the Moose Lodge and the Sears Retirees Group. She also enjoyed doing craft work, spending winters in Bullhead City and playing bingo.
Survivors include one brother, George Duzik Jr. of Sioux City; two sisters, Jean Garrison of Buena Park, Calif., and Helen Showalter of Kansas City, Mo.; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one sister, Margarethe "Toots" Michener.
