SIOUX CITY -- Betty Lorraine Ege, 88, of Blooming Prairie, Minn., formerly Sioux City, passed away Sunday, Nov. 13, 2011, at Prairie Manner Care Center in Blooming Prairie.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Russell Senstad officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent at christysmith.com.
Betty was born Nov. 9, 1923, in Sioux City, to Bert and Matilda (Storbeck) Herring. She grew up and attended school in Sioux City, graduating from Central High School in 1941.
Betty married Robert Ege on Nov. 10, 1945. The couple made Sioux City their home and raised a daughter, Virginia. Betty worked for Wincharger and then Zenith Co. in Sioux City before retiring. Robert died on Nov. 18, 1994. Betty moved to Blooming Prairie in 2005 to be closer to her daughter.
She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. Betty loved to play cards and bingo, go on long walks and spend time fishing.
Survivors include one daughter, Virginia Sibenaller and her husband, Harold of Austin, Minn.; numerous nieces and nephews; and two sister in-laws, Emma Jean McClarty of Colorado, and Maxine Herring of Fremont, Neb.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and all her brothers and sisters.
Memorial may be directed to Redeemer Lutheran Church in Betty's name.
