Sioux City - Betty Jeanne Ensley, 81, of Sioux City died Saturday, June 16, 2012, at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting, Iowa.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Riverside United Methodist Church. The Rev. Tanya Sherrill will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Berkemier Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Betty was born on Dec. 14, 1930, in Sioux City, the daughter of Clifford and Marjorie (Orem) Card Sr. She was a lifelong resident of Sioux City and graduated from East High School in 1949.
On April 15, 1949, she married Donald Ensley in South Sioux City. The couple lived in the Riverside area for many years. Donald died on June 18, 2004, in Sioux City.
They were very active in the Riverside Booster Club with the promotion of the Riverside High School. She was a member of the Riverside United Methodist Church. Betty enjoyed playing cards and was a league bowler. She bowled in several national tournaments. She also enjoyed camping and fishing. What she loved most was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by two children and their spouses, Mike and Gloria Ensley of Whiting, and Kathy and Lowell “Tubby” Steeg of Sioux City; five grandchildren, David and Wendy Ensley, Teresa and Darin Kraus, Jo and Mark Kisling, Jeannea and Jason Felix, and Corey Steeg; 16 great-grandchildren, Ben, Zach, Samantha, Kale, Chloe, Michael, Kelsey, Allison, Haley, Madison, Paige, Keely, Mikayla, Alanah, Ainsley, and Donilee; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and one brother, Clifford Card Jr.
