Betty J. Rhue, 84, of Moville died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moville, with the Rev. Barb Spaulding officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Township Cemetery at Moville. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of McCulloch Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Moville.
Betty was born Nov. 2, 1931, at Bonilla, S.D., the daughter of Howard and Dorothy (Huse) Miller. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Lawton, Iowa, moving to Moville when she was in high school. Betty graduated in 1950.
She married Charles "Bud" Rhue on March 25, 1951, in Las Vegas, Nev. Together they made their home in Las Vegas until Bud's honorary discharge from the military, then moved back to Moville. Betty worked as the secretary to the superintendent of Moville Community Schools for over 49 years. Charles died in January of 1994.
Betty was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Moville. She played organ for the church for over 63 years. Betty was loved by all who knew her. She gave the best hugs and was great at blowing kisses.
Survivors include a son, Randy Rhue of Moville; daughter, LeAnn (Larry) Franzen of Sioux City; five grandchildren, Erin Austin, Charlie Rhue, Robin Burke, Shana (Ray) Spier and Shelby (Jeff) Sides; 10 great-grandchildren, Isaiah Rhue, Erianah Austin, Colton, Brett and Rhaigen Burke, Ethan and Gwyneth Spier, and Kaden, Kyren and Karsten Sides; two sisters, Nadine Clark of Sioux City, and Deanna Logan of Spencer, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bud; sister, Marion (Ernie) Steffen; three brothers-in-law, Ronald Clark, Bob Logan and Gordon Montange; and a sister-in-law, Nancy Montange.
