LAWTON, Iowa -- Betty J. Solberg, 69, of Lawton passed away Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Community Presbyterian Church in Lawton, with the Rev. Cyndy Ripperger officiating. Burial will be in Banner Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church. Betty June Weston was born Dec. 21, 1939, in rural Lawton, to Archie and Gladys (Robinson) Weston. She attended and graduated from Lawton schools.
On Dec. 11, 1964, she and Leland Solberg were married at Community Presbyterian Church in Lawton. She did baby-sitting and taught preschool students in the Lawton area for 27 years.
She was a member of the Dancing Grannies and Grandpas. She was a member of Community Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday School for several years. She was a member of the Presbyterian Women's Group and served as the chair for funeral lunches. She also was an elder of the church. In her spare time, she enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading. She loved to attend her grandchildren's sporting events. She also had a love for butterflies.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Leland of Lawton; a daughter, Cindy and her husband, Tom Klunker of Lawton; sisters, Verna and her husband, Howard Smith of Lawton, Patty and her husband, Dan Foster of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Mary and her husband, John Malm of Lawton; a brother, Arthur Weston and his wife, Kate of Sloan, Iowa; grandchildren, Tommy and Joshua Klunker of Lawton; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives; and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
