SIOUX CITY -- Betty Lou Tott, 84, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009, at Holy Spirit Assisted Living.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Church of the Nativity, with the Rev. Gerald Feierfeil officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and vigil service at 7 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Betty was born June 17, 1925, in Sioux City, the daughter of George and Lucy (Weikert) Shaver. She was a lifelong resident of Sioux City. She graduated from Central High School in 1943.
She married Vernon W. Tott in November 1974. He died March 1, 2005. She retired as manager of a Wonder Bread Thrift Store after working there for many years.
She was a member of Church of the Nativity. She loved to play cards, read and go shopping. She loved to cook and was always pleased when people enjoyed her cooking.
She is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Donna and Dan Jensen of Sioux City and Vicki and Robert Hansel of Sioux City; a son and his wife, Jon and Shelly Sadler of Sergeant Bluff; her grandchildren, Rob Groves, John (Jennifer) Hansel, Angela (Darin) Miller, Colton Jensen, Matt Sadler, Jayna Sadler and Sarah Sadler; great-grandchildren, Kyle and Jaden Groves, Oliver Hansel and Kennadi and Natalee Miller; a stepdaughter, Nancy Ann Tott; and a stepson, Richard Vernon Tott.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Mary Short and Jeannie Shaver; and a brother, Bob Shaver.
