Betty Jo White, 82, of Sioux City, formerly of Merrill, Iowa, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Assembly of God Church, with the Rev. Al Weiss officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Christy-Smith Larkin Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to

Betty Jo was born April 5, 1925, in Sioux City, the daughter of Charles L. and Eva (Pomeroy) McIntyre. She was raised on a farm in the Bronson, Iowa, area and graduated from Bronson High School.
On May 20, 1944, she married Harry B. White in Fayetteville, N.C. The couple moved to a farm in Merrill in the spring of 1966.
She had been a member of First Assembly of God Church since she was 16 years old. She loved to write and would help others write letters. She wrote many letters to her family and friends. She enjoyed watching Little House on the Prairie. What she loved most was spending time with her husband, her daughters and grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Harry B. White of Sioux City; two daughters, Gaylene Bobier of Sioux City and Becky White of Minneapolis; a granddaughter, Tiffany Tankersley of Sioux City; a sister, Vivien Attrill of Spokane, Wash.; a brother-in-law, Marvin and Betty Lou White; and a sister-in-law, Mary White.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, David Lee in infancy; a brother, Dale McIntyre; a son-in-law, Don Bobier; and brothers-in-law, Roy White and Harry Attrill.
