Beverly Mae Kass, 93, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014 at a local hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Beverly was born on Oct. 21, 1920, in Peterson, Iowa, to David and Della Pierce-Borland. She graduated from high school in Peterson, Iowa, and then moved to Grand Island, Neb.
It was there that she met her future husband, Don, while he was attending the same business school. She was united in marriage to Don Kass on Nov. 14, 1942, in Ojai, Calif. She attended Morningside College for two years and later attended Grand Island Business School.
Beverly was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, enjoyed golfing and was a former member of the Sioux City Boat Club and later, the Dakota Dunes Country Club. She also enjoyed playing bridge and met regularly with her bridge group at Green Gables Restaurant. Beverly liked to travel and take family vacations to Okoboji and later to California and the Black Hills. One of her favorite trips was one she took with her grandson John to London. She was an excellent cook and loved having the family together, especially at Christmas.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Don; children, Roger (Madonna) Kass of Sioux City, David Kass of Overland Park, Kan., and Tom (Deborah) Kass of Overland Park; grandchildren, John, Kara, Britt, Matthew, Henry, Lea, Katie, Peter, Kevin, Mychal and Steven; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Andrew, Thatcher, Mary Nina, Molly, Noah, Annika, Avery and Ashley; and sister-in-law, Marguerite Borland of Santa Monica, Calif.
She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Pam Kass; brothers, Wendell and Howard; and sister, Helena.
