Beverly L. Moore, 79, of Sioux City died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015, at a local care facility, following a lengthy illness.
Private family services and burial will be held at a later date. Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes is helping the family with arrangements.
Beverly was born Aug. 13, 1935, in Onawa, Iowa, the daughter of Lee and Mildred (Huff) Davis. During her childhood years, she cherished time spent at her grandparents’ farm near Blencoe, Iowa. Upon graduating from Onawa High School in 1953, Bev moved to Sioux City, where she began work at Northwestern Bell.
Bev married Roland Moore on Sept. 25, 1954, at Onawa. They made their home and raised their family in Sioux City.
While raising their three boys, Bev was a devoted homemaker, and during this time, she also served as an aide at Cooper Elementary School. She re-entered the workforce in 1975, first returning to Northwestern Bell for a short time, then starting what would be a 20-year career at Kmart.
She enjoyed family outings such as camping, hiking, picnics, going to the movies, dining out and most of all, her evening walks with Roland. Bev also enjoyed vacationing with her husband. Some of their favorite destinations were places such as Colorado, the Black Hills, Wisconsin Dells and Duluth, Minn. During her quiet times, reading was especially a favorite, as was the "occasional" bowl of ice cream.
Bev will always be remembered as a kind, gentle and caring woman with a warm smile that came so easily. She will be greatly missed.
Survivors include three sons, Brian (Vicki) Moore of Sioux City, Jeff Moore of Sioux Falls, and Michael Moore of Sioux City; granddaughter, Angela Moore of Sioux City; one brother, Charles (Pat) Davis of Elk River, Minn; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Roland.
Condolences may be sent to the family in care of Michael Moore, 2408 S. Olive St., Sioux City, IA 51106.
