SIOUX CITY -- Beverly J. Novacek, 79, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, July 17, 2010, at Touchstone Care Center in Sioux City.
A celebration of life visitation will be held between the hours of 4 and 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Marina Inn, 4th and D Streets, Executive Suite, Room 143 in South Sioux City. Burial of her cremains will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Beverly Jean Luebben was born in Hartington, Neb., on June 18, 1931. Her parents were Orville and Alma (Irons) Luebben. They moved to South Sioux City when she was an infant. She attended school in South Sioux City, where she was active in several activities including band.
On Sept. 1, 1950, at Elk Point, S.D., she married Donald Frank Novacek of Walthill, Neb. After spending their first two years of married life in the Air Force, they settled down in South Sioux City. In 1955, they moved to the Morningside area of Sioux City on Lakeport Road, where they lived until 1975. They then moved to South Saint Aubin Street in Morningside where Don still resides. Beverly worked at Iowa Beef Processing as an administrative assistant for three years. She later worked as the bookkeeper and credit manager for Rogers Electric for eight years.
Beverly enjoyed fishing, camping, crafts, crochet, knitting, computers, card games, cats, bowling, dancing and was an avid reader.
Beverly is survived by her husband, Donald; two children, daughter, Jeannie Novacek of Detroit Lakes, Minn., and son, Tony and his wife, Sheila of Irving, Texas; a special daughter-in-law, Julie Novacek of Omaha, Neb., seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Bob Luebben of Littleton, Colo.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Alma Luebben; a daughter, Terri Houston of Chesapeake, Va.; and three sisters, Mary Jo (Dode) Norton, Marlene Wyant and Jan Halweg.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the Sioux City Humane Society.
