Bonnie J. KuyKendall

August 1, 1925 — May 4, 2013

Bonnie J. (Longstreth) KuyKendall 87, of Apple Valley, Minn., formerly of Sioux City, passed away May 4, 2013, at Augustana Health Care Center.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Sioux City, with the Rev. Dan Doran officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to www.christysmith.com .
Bonnie was the daughter of Rex and Gladys (Betz) Longstreth of Sergeant Bluff.
Bonnie married Dorman E. KuyKendall in 1944, while he was in the U.S. Army Air Corps in Sioux City. They raised their family in Sioux City. They owned and operated the Towne and Country Motel on Court Street until 1971. They then moved to Randolph, Neb., where they became the owner/operator of the Cedar Motel for several years. After leaving Randolph, they continued to manage motels in Minneapolis, Albert Lea, Minn., and Branson, Mo. They spent much of their retirement years near Branson. In 2005, they moved to Apple Valley, where they spent their remaining years. Bonnie and Dorman celebrated 64 years of marriage prior to Dorman’s passing in 2008.
She will be missed by family and all who knew her. Bonnie cherished her family and loved the Lord.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Mary and Michael Abelson of Lakeville Minn.; a son and his wife, Larry and Gayle (Tryon) KuyKendall of Kimberling City, Mo.; grandchildren, Kimberly (Anderson) Ware and her husband, Ron, Dr. Michelle Abelson and her husband, Brian Gryniewski, Larry and his wife, Elizabeth (Allen) KuyKendall, Amy (KuyKendall) and her husband, Guy Warnecke Jr., Mollie (Abelson) and her husband, Chad Erickson, and David KuyKendall; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Trudy Sekera of Sergeant Bluff.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dorman; a son, Edward who died at birth; and a brother, John "Jack" Longstreth.
